Chappals and other random thoughts

the kids Chapals all lined up outside the house

Our weekend birthday party was a lot of fun. The kids ate more momos than you would think humanly possible. And I sooo want to make a video of them all dancing to "Call Me Maybe" like the U.S. swim team. Gotta add that one to the list for a rainy day. They're also into the Hindi singer Rowdy Rathore right now. When he comes on, they go bananas!

Today was the first day of the week and I was feeling a little overwhelmed.  My to do list is too long and every day I set out with a list of goals but I get distracted and moved in a million different directions and at the end of the day I feel frustrated that I didn't get enough done.  Repeat tomorrow.  My 10 minute errand escapade in the Scorpio this evening turned into 3 hours and I made a big mistake by bringing a cranky two-year-old with me.  I also think I might be the only woman driver in this city.  I realized this when I was driving around today. Everyone stares at me like I shouldn't be driving behind the wheel or something. I kind of like it.

A few of my staff went down to Nepal Ganj to get their drivers' licenses today.  We have a scooter and a motorcycle that they all do running around and errands for me on.  I'm still trying to convince some of the ladies to learn.  The Uncles had failed the license exams a bunch of times before because they couldn't read the test and they had to check random answers.  The generation of people in their 30's and 40's really didn't go to school. Today they passed and they all came home holding their licenses and big bright smiles.  I won't have to keep pleading with the police officers everytime someone gets stopped.  That's a relief.

A few of the kids are still sick and I want so badly for them to get better. My nursing skills and patience, and TLC have taken me as far as they can get me and now I'm like... "OKAY! Now just get better everyone!" We're onto kid number 25 and my fuse is getting short and my thermometer ran out of battery. Psst... we're on the look out for a new school/house nurse!  Job description coming soon.  Let me know if you know anyone interested.

Namraj feels warm to me and he was super cranky tonight.  Hopefully it was just from all our excessive errand running.  I really hope he's not coming down with the BUG!

There are so many exciting, thrilling, things happening right now... I'm amped.  I just really want to feel like I'm on top of everything and I'm not.  I hardly ever am.  I guess it's just the reality of life and having a lot of kids and I better get used to it.

Time for bed...  I can't believe it's only Monday!!

Maggie,
Hope Namraj and you do not come down with the flu. It's very hard with that many sick children not to have it spread like wild fire. Please take a little extra time to rest and relax. Forget about the to do list. For someone like you, there always will be one.

Just sent you and my niece Marie an email about the upcoming wonderful opportunity for a nurse at Kopila Valley Home and School.

Stay well and many blessings!
Teri

oh gosh I want to feel like I'm on top of everything too! But alas.....I appear to be a mere mortal. Shoooooot! You're my hero through and through. xo

One day you will understand my abilities to see into the future... okay, so the rare occasions when I can see into the future !! Remember that little gadget that Gina gave you just before you left and I said set this up in the Satsang room and say goodbye to these little bugs you are dealing with now.

Dhang, I love 2 of the songs on that Rowdy Rathore soundtrack too. The video's are stupidly funny in a way that doesn't appeal to me, but I like the songs, especially Shreya's songs.

Stay healthy. Antibodies are being made, hang in there.

Hahaha! "Okay, now just get better everyone"... but they will.

By disposition I was the same way with to-do lists. Chunking helps (since we can only consciously focus on avg. of 7 things at once) and that way you're not wasting as much emotional steam as you would have otherwise, physically though it's still the same :/ bugger, I know.

If your fuse gets short and when it comes to your emotions, don't fight what IS. Like a Chinese finger-trap: just let it flow and then you'll find you're replenished much sooner.

So congratulations to the Uncles...Maggie you made me thinking when my mother took the driving licence, a lot of years ago. I was a girl and this changed our life. Courage Ladies...

If the townsfolk were shocked at seeing you driving the car, just imagine their expressions if they saw Ubji or any of the other women home staff either driving the car or the motorbike. It would be a sight for sore eyes.
