Dear Readers and Kopila Friends,

I've been meaning to sit down and write a blog post for a while now but with all the travel and adjusting to life back here at Kopila, I never quite found the time or the right words to say.

Just as Anjali and I were packing up our bags and making last minute preparations for our trip out of the U.S., news hit that Sandy was well on her way in.  Everyone was in a frenzy making preparations for the storm, and stocking up on groceries. My mom had a guy come and take down a big unhealthy tree next to our house. Suddenly our trip, and packing, and getting back to Nepal didn't seem as big of a deal. We made it on the plane while the skies were gray, just about when everything was about to hit.  On every layover, I anxiously checked my phone and hit the refresh button on my newsfeed and CNN. Honestly, I've been thinking about everyone constantly and it felt strange to leave knowing what was about to happen. Part of me really just wanted to stay home and rough out the storm with everyone else.

I know a lot of people are going through a hard time right now, so before anything else, on behalf of all of Kopila, I just want to say you are in our hearts, we are thinking about you and sending every bit of hope and strength your way. I know more than anything that times like these require everyone to pull together and take care of one another.
