Every now and again I get behind on this blog and then I get overwhelmed because I'm so behind, I don't know where to start :) There is just so so much I want to share with you.
First there's Anjali.
She is having the most wonderful time here in NJ. This week she's been at the Peck School shadowing a fellow 6th grader who she absolutely adores. She loved everything about the Peck School and has been going on and on about how everyone is so nice and kind just all around wonderful. She makes us all laugh and smile on a daily basis and it's been the biggest treat to have her here. A highlight of the trip so far was going to Times Square with friends and re-enacting the scene from Enchanted where the princess comes up out of the sewer in the center of the the city. She could really relate to that scene. We also went to M & M factory (how could we not?) and kept our eyes pealed for Selena Gomez and Beyonce. She had her mind blown at Whole Foods and Michael's (the craft store) and like I do, enjoys nature and watching Autumn's changing colors of the leaves. She's having fun learning new words and sayings in the English language, reading books and she getting to spend lots of time with Libby and Grandmother while I work. Her last wish while we're here is to collect seashells on the beach so we're going to try to make that happen this weekend. (Anyone know the best place for shells?)
Honestly the most precious moments have come meeting friends and supporters and having everyone embrace Anjali and give her the most heartfelt welcomes. Thank you all so much. I'd love for you all to meet her while she's here! We're planning a meet and greet at the Mendham Library next Thursday, October 18th from 6:30-8. We'll both be speaking and you're all welcome to come on over and check out my home-town and meet this sweet daughter of mine. We'd absolutely love for you to join us. We're also having a special gathering tomorrow evening, October 12th at our friends the Cioppettini's home. We're enjoying our last few days before we get back to the Kopila kids who we are missing so very much.
There's a few last things I can't stop thinking and talking about.
Malala. I really can't get this little girl off my mind. She's the age of so many of the Kopila girls, I sort of feel like I know her and my heart aches for what she's going through right now. I'm sending her every good possible healing wish and thought and prayer that I possibly can. Please join me.
What did you all think of Half the Sky? I think this documentary looks AWESOME too. It seems like a nice hopeful story. I can't wait to watch it.
Lastly, I want to thank you all for spreading the word of our wish list and continuing to support our hopes and dreams as we grow and expand with Kopila High School. We couldn't do any of this with out you. I mean it. I'm so excited for what the future has in store for Kopila Valley and increasing accessibility and quality education to children around the globe. We're getting closer and closer!
If you are in the area, please do come out and say hello next Thursday night at the Mendham Library.
So much love from NJ,
